SHINING SOME RENEWED LIGHTING

Updated: Sep 30

After 20+ years of absence, original reading lights have been reinstalled below the luggage racks (on one side). Throughout those years several components  were gathered, cleaned, and polished. Previous owners painted over the metal frames which were removed. New interior parts were found and wired to receive electric current to create bulb lighting.

An example of showing the process of restoring each reading light from an ugly painted inside and outside  (right, dark item) to a final, shiny, clean fixture.

Below is a Burlington Route archives photo showing the large parlor room with the original reading lights.

So much of the SILVER VIEW restoration work thus far has been on items that are not visible by viewers.  As an example volunteers have stepped-up to help remove 70+ years of wiring and replace with current new wiring. This kind of task made it possible for the now in place fixtures shown.

Ongoing actions will focus on finishing the other side during the future months.
