Zephyr Route has information below on tours planned or already scheduled.  Train tours feature beautifully restored rail cars (unless otherwise noted) and include a first class dining experience on board.

If you don't hear back from us within 48 hours please call or email us directly.  We sometimes get very busy with online requests so please be patient. For future tour ideas, please inquire.

Tour prices are subject to change at any time due to unforeseen cost changes.  Once you give us a deposit you're protected from any potential price increases.

Dining Car One Day Lunch Tour in East Troy & Lake Geneva, WI -

This is a special same day tour that was loved by many a few years ago, and are offering it again

The tour starts with a morning motor-coach from the western suburbs of Chicago, and arrives mid-morning in East Troy, WI.  Lunch is served on a the East Troy Trolley Cars as the train glides through the picturesque Kettle Moraine area of Wisconsin.  Motor-coach transportation is provided to Lake Geneva for a relaxing boat ride (optional), and back to the western suburbs by early evening.

Aug 7-11, 2019 - Mile High Colorado Rockies Tour

Zephyr Route is now taking names for a wait list for this tour from Chicago to Denver, Colorado for a five day (four nights) tour.  This tour is limited to 24 passengers.

This "first time offered" tour includes sleeping on one of two beautifully restored cars both to and from Colorado, and two nights of premier hotel stay in Denver.  The scheduled tours also include riding the Georgetown Loop Railroad, riding the Royal Gorge Railroad, a visit to the Garden of the Gods, and other possible sightseeing in Denver.

Sept 1-3, 2019 - Mississippi River Bluffs

We are excited to offer this tour for the first time in 2019.  Travel by motor coach from St. Charles IL, to Dubuque, IA. Included will be a full afternoon stop in historic Galena,  2 nights lodging in Dubuque,  a complete day of sightseeing aboard the riverboat Twilight, plus so much more. While not a train tour, its sure to interest a number of our prior travelers, and we expect this tour to sell out.

Oct 4-6, 2019 - Fall in St. Paul Tour

TOUR COMPLETED 

This tour is an annual favorite with many returning each year for the scenic journey through WI and MN.

This tour leaves Chicago at 2:15 PM on Friday; enjoy a wonderful dinner en route; arrives St. Paul at 10:00 PM.  Saturday morning includes a tour of the Twin Cities. Departs St. Paul at 8:00 AM Sunday, for a scenic ride along the Mississippi River with breakfast and lunch along the way. If nature cooperates, there may be the added pleasure of beautiful fall foliage along the way, especially the Mississippi River bluffs between St. Paul and La Crosse.

Narration on board many of our journeys is provided by Midwest Rail Rangers.  We are proud to have them provide live on-board narration, one-on-one interactions with passengers, custom route guide sheets, custom route guide books for sale, an interactive on-board visitor center featuring information about the route, and even special programs for younger passengers who might be traveling.
